[Jakarta – Malang – Banyuwangi – Ijen Crater – Bali] Dec 2015 – Jan 2016 Day 4 – 7 North Bali, Denpasar, Kuta, Malang
After exploring the first day in South of Bali, we went to North Bali the next day. Bali is not only about beaches, sunrise and sunset. You can do many things in Bali, even mountain trekking is available. You can go up to Mt. Batur or you can gaze to the paddy field in Tegal Lalang. We planned to have lunch in Kintamani and we would like to visit several tourism objects before reaching Kintamani. First, we saw several Luwak Coffee Agrotourism so we stopped by one of them. There we were explained how luwak coffee was produced and we were served several kind of coffee and tea.
From there, we made a stop in Tegal Lalang. It’s place where you can view the beauty of paddy field and farms.
Continuing from Tegal Lalang, we finally reached Kintamani to have our lunch. We reached the restaurant at 2.30pm. It’s kinda late because we were stucked in several traffic jams. The view from the restaurant is awesome as you can directly witness the beauty of Mt. Batur from afar .
After filling our stomach, we went down from Kintamani back towards town. But before reaching town, we went to Tampak Siring or Tirta Empul Temple. It is a Hindu Temple located in a valley between two hills with big springs and sacred by the local residents as a place to melt all the bad influences in the body and purifies the soul and mind. Tirtha Empul Temple or better known as Tampak Siring Temple or Holy Water Temple is a place to purify our self from the bad influences in life where we can discover the traditional showers sourced from the springs at this temple. The water that comes out from the shower is believed to eliminate all kind of diseases including adverse effect in the human life and give the new holy spirit. There are many water sources flowing to the temple which serves different kind of purposes. As we didn’t have guides to explain to us, we didn’t dare to use the water.
Tampak Siring was the last destination that day. On Day 5 or the last day of 2015, we departed early in the morning to see the waterblow in Nusa Dua. In Waterblow, the tide is so high that the water will splash towards you even you are in a high cliff. Unfortunately , the tide is not high in the morning so we missed our chance to experience the waterblow.
After we missed our chance in the waterblow, we went to one of the most famous place in Bali. It’s Tanah Lot. I have been there once but can’t get enough of the view there. On that day, the tide was so high and ferocious so our movement is kind of restricted. They said that there were 2 ppl passed away drifted away from the high tide. It’s so freaking scary ! Anyway, the scenery is still amazing!,
Departing from Tanah Lot, it seems the trip will not be completed if we didn’t do some shoppings. So we went to Kumbangsari Market. We got several fantastic offers there. We bought shirts for only @15kIDR each. The key is bargaining !
After doing some shopping in the market, we went to Khrisna as they sold many souvenirs and clothes with a fair price. From Khrisna, we were dropped off in Kuta as after 4pm, cars were alrdy prohibited to enter Kuta due to New Year’s Eve. We walked our way to Joger to buy some slippers. From Joger, we walked to Kuta Beach to enjoy our last sunset in 2015.After the sunset ended, we had some dinner and waited till 12am for New Year ! Happy New Year from Kuta beach! It’s 00.00 and there were literally 100.000 ppl celebrating New Year with us.
On the first day of 2016, we spent whole day in villa sleeping and relaxing. At 4pm , we departed to Ubung Bus Station to catch the bus to Malang. Our vacation was over and we had a hell of journey back to Jakarta. The bus from Bali to Malang was over than 16 hrs as the bus stopped just before reaching Gilimanuk Harbour due to malfunctioning so we had to wait 4hrs before another bus fetched us. We arrived in Malang at 1pm and we caught the train from Malang to Jakarta at 5pm. We will arrive in Jakarta at 10am on 3rd January. It was a hell of vacation and journey from Jakarta – Malang – Banyuwangi – Ijen Crater – Bali but it’s time to be back to our daily routine. Once again Happy New Year 2016 and may the force be with you !
