Journey to Taiwan Part 5 – Taichung to Kaohsiung

(will update more photos later on)

Wohooo, today we started again our journey from TaiChung to Kaoshiung, the South of Taiwan!! When Taichung is a modern city, Kaoshiung is an industrial city and a harbour city. The harbour in this city is told fantastic (didn’t have time to see the harbour). Because it is a harbour city, the seafood is awesome :p (not that I like seafood haha).

We didn’t go directly from TaiChung to Kaoshiung.

First we went to Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center. It took more than 2 hours from Taichung to Fo Guang Shan. Before I went there, my imagination is like we gonna visit a temple, like ordinary temple, but when i stepped at the Memorial Center, it is superbly modern and just WOW. There is even Starbucks haha.. But of course the Memorial Center is different from the Fo Guang Shan Monastery where the Bhikkus live. The Memorial Center is just awesome. Maybe some pictures can give you how WOW and fantastic it is.

After Fo Guang Shan Memorial Center, we continued our journey towards Kaohsiung. Before arriving in Kaohsiung, we went to E-da World Outlet Shopping Mall. It is a complete complex where there are Shopping Mall, Theme park, Residential Places, etc. Basically the Shopping Mall is like other Shopping Mall. The insides are commonly fashion and beauty center. I didn’t feel like exploring cause I’m sick of Shopping Malls in Jakarta haha and the prices in E-da Shopping Mall is expensive, not worth it.

After a boring visit in Shopping Mall, we went to Spring Autumn Pavilion, Dragon and Tiger Pagoda. The Pavilion and the Pagoda is only a few miles away. We took some splendid pictures there. In dragon and tiger pagoda, we supposed to enter the Pagoda from the mouth of Dragon and out from the mouth of Tiger. It is believed that if we enter the pagoda that way, we will be prosperous and rich. So, why not? Who want to say no to Prosperity and Rich? haha

After that we had our dinner in one of the Haika Restaurant. It was splendid. After dinner we went to Liu He Night Market Kaohsiung. The Night Market is full of FOODS especially seafood. There are lobsters, crabs, cuttlefish, prawns, etc etc etc. Because I didn’t like seafood, I’m just idle in the night market, sight seeing and refreshing my eyes (if you know what I mean lol). I were also hunting for Taiwanese Milk Tea. We bought two types of Taiwanese Milk Tea and both were awesome.

After supper, we went back to our hotel. After dropping our luggage, we went to Kaohsiung Love River where couples spend their “time” there. Feels sad that I’m single (lol). There are a lot of couples because the sides of the river is dimmed-lighted and yeah you know couples can do their thing there lol. So yeah, we went sightseeing and cracking jokes. (We are SINGLES) hahaha..

Journey to Taiwan – Part 4 (17th April 2014) – Taipei – TaiChung

After taken a rest in Taipei, in the morning we went to TaiChung. So it’s like this, for 3 days (17-19), we are going to travel Taiwan! From North to South, from Taipei to KaoShiung. So, Taipei is in the north of Taiwan and Kaoshiung is in the south of Taiwan. Of course, we won’t do that in a day but during our travel from north to south of Taiwan, we gonna stop in a few tourism place. Today, we traveled from Taipei to Taichung. The tour started at 8am. First we gonna visit Sun Moon Lake. The trip from Taipei to Sun Moon Lake via bus took almost 3 and half hours. I spent my almost all of my time sleeping lol. The lake named Sun Moon Lake because the east side of the lake resembles sun and the west side resembles the west. The Lake itself was used to be the favorite place for Chiang Kai Sek and his wife. Swimming in this lake is prohibited all along the year except for one day around the mid-autumm festival. It’s a swimming carnival. The carnival itself is used to be the place for aboriginal men in the past to show off their bravery and the champions may get married. The carnival itself are held till now.

We had our lunch in one of the restaurant in Sun Moon Lake. There we also visited Wen Wu Temple. There are observatory place in the temple where we can see the beauty of the lake.

After Sun Moon Lake, we headed towards the harbour. We gonna take a ferry cruise to go across Tsao Village where aboriginal people live in Taiwan. We had a great time in Tsao Village, seeing unique things, eating delicious foods and learn something about their culture there 🙂

Next, we headed to TaiChung (like finally lol), the trip from Sun Moon Lake to Taichung took almost one and half hour and I also spent my time sleeping (so tired lol). We arrived in Taichung at around 5pm. Taichung is a beautiful city, carefully designed and beautifully well constructed. The buildings are all uniquely designed and have their own themes. At night, the buildings will sparkle beautiful lights towards the city. Taichung has more modern and more tall buildings than Taipei. It’s the most modern city yet the newest city in Taiwan. We went to a “Suki” restaurant. (or Shabu Shabu). The building itself is unique ( I forgot to take a pict 😦 ). The way we eat there is unique too. There, we are given a place to cook for each person. We are given the raw food and the soup but the soup is still plain. We must make our own mixture of spice and flavor. I prefer a salty, spicy and sour soup. It was delicious haha.

After dinner, we went to Yi Chung Night Market. There’re a lot of hawkers, foods, fashion shops which are cheap, worth, and delicious. There are a lot a lot and a lot of people. Make sure you take care of your belongings well. We don’t want anything bad happens. 🙂

Anxiety really feels the mood in the morning. After so long joining Tzu Chi, finally I would meet Master Cheng Yen (or Shi Gong Shang Ren). After finishing our breakfast, we headed to Jing Si Jing She. There we met several Indonesian Tzu Chi Volunteers who were giving reports to Shi Gong. We waited for our turn to meet Shi Gong.

Then, we were called to a room where Shi Gong and Indonesian Volunteers will hold the meeting. Then one of the Shi Bo told Shi Gong that the one in front are one family consisting of 22 family members who all of them are Tzu Chi Volunteers and consisting of 4 generation. From my Grandma Grandpa up to my nephew. After Shi Gong heard that, Shi Gong said to the nearby Shi Gu / Shi Fu “wa lai beh khi khua i lank” (I don’t really remember cause the nervousness, meaning I’ll go see them) to prepare the bracelet and red pocket special from Shi Gong

Journey to Taiwan – Part 2 (15th April 2014)

Day 2 in Taiwan!!! ( Actually I’ve written this post this afternoon but dunno why when published, it became a blank page so I’ve to start all over :(, but it’s alrite haha)

After an amazing first day, I suddenly felt so anxious about second day. Second day will be awesome cause we will go back to Hualien. The center of Tzu Chi and the origin of  Tzu Chi. Besides the anxiety, we were a bit late in the dawn and fortunately we could catch the bullet train just in time. Haha. Bullet Train from Taipei to Hualien takes approximately two and half hours.

In the train, I basically slept lol but upon arrival in Hualien, the scenery is just FABULOUS. You felt like you are one with nature. The beautiful of the scenery just can’t be describe by words.
